Before your foe can reach your position, a hail of covering fire from your rear decimates the enemy and they fall back, their morale severely tested. Looking back, you are relieved to see elements of 1st Battalion arrive with fresh men and ammunition! Grateful for the arriving reinforcements, you fall back for additional munitions.
Over the next hour, the German advance is stifled and finally driven back, suffering heavy losses.
While you wait at a rest station near the back of the line for Private Luker to receive medical attention for his injuries, you are allowed a moment together. You spend it sharing that hot cup of coffee you had been craving since before dawn, grateful to be alive and well.
