PR: HPS Simulations is proud to announce the upcoming release of Winter War, a John Tiller Game

For 105 days, the tiny nation of Finland fought a war that typically merits only a footnote in a history book, or a passing remark in a WWII documentary. Taking on the vast manpower of the Soviet army, the Finns put up a fanatical defense of their homeland, inflicting horrific casualties on the invading Soviet army. In the end, the overwhelming number of Soviet troops and tanks sent into Finland forced the Finns to sue for peace, but they walked away from the conflict with their much bigger neighbor with their independence and national pride intact. Their struggle influenced the landscape and direction of the entire world war that followed, and perhaps the outcome as well. Winter War is a tactical level simulation of this conflict using the Squad Battles system. On the morning of November 30th, 1939, the Soviet Union unleashed its vast military might on its defiant neighbor. Soviet medium bombers attacked the Finnish capital of Helsinki, and immense Soviet resources in men and material surged across...

The incremental...

PR: Shrapnel Games Awakens The Sleeping Giant With War Plan Pacific!

Hampstead, NC, 02 April 2008 It should have been just another December Sunday morning.  It wasn’t.  Scores of aircraft dropped from the sky, blood red suns adorning their wings, unleashing a Hell borne from bullet, bomb, and torpedo.  Body and hull shattered, blood and oil staining the Hawaiian waters as most of the United States’ Pacific Fleet was transformed into a mangled wreck of flesh and steel within hours.  As bad as the carnage was it was but a sign of the days to come, as the greatest naval conflict the world had ever seen– or would see– erupted upon that infamous day.  Forged in the flames of Pearl Harbor this conflict would only end in the atomic flames of Nagasaki. Shrapnel Games is pleased to announce the upcoming publication of War Plan Pacific, developed by KE Studios, a new development house based in the Puget Sound region.  Currently about to enter beta War Plan Pacific will be available for the Windows operating system, price to be decided.
