Matrix Games and 2by3 Games have announced that Gary Grigsby’s War in the East is now available for purchase.  Both download and physical copies are available from either the Matrix Games or Slitherine store, with the physical copy including a printed manual.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “War in the East is one of our biggest and most anticipated releases of the year so we’re very excited to be announcing that it’s now available for purchase. 2by3 Games has worked hard over the past few years to make this game the classic it will no doubt become but enough chit chat – Stalingrad isn’t going to just besiege itself!”

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is being billed as "the spiritual heir to the great Eastern Front board and computer wargames of the past."  It is a turn-based World War II strategy game which covers ground units down to the division and brigade levels.  The map stretches across the entire Eastern Front on a 10 mile per hex scale. Gamers can engage in massive, dramatic campaigns, including intense battles involving thousands of units with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.  Factors such as supply, fatigue, experience, morale and the skill of divisional, corps and army leaders all play an important part in determining the results at the front line. Gary Grigsby’s War in the East comes with four massive campaigns as well as many smaller scenarios all with different strategic and operational challenges.
