Department of Veteran Affairs Offers Financial Aid

By Public Service Announcement

Armchair General received information about financial assistance programs available from the U.S. Government for veterans and active-duty personnel. We present this information as a public service to current and former members of America’s armed services.

New rounds of foreclosures are squeezing homeowners and tight credit is keeping many from purchasing a home. Assistance is available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to veterans and active-duty personnel, not only for these problems but other financial crises as well. Unfortunately, many who could utilize these services are unaware the programs exist.

“VA is reaching out to veterans – both those who use our home-loan guaranty program and those who don’t take advantage of our guaranties – to keep people in their homes,” said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Dr. James B. Peake is quoted as saying, in a press release from the VA. “I’m proud of our solid record of success in helping veterans and active-duty personnel deal with financial crises."
