Interactive Combat Story: The Calm Before The Storm

You fire off a shot, surprising Pvt. Bernson, and you both hold your breath, praying you haven’t just shot one of your own men. A guttural cry from the darkness up ahead, spoken in German, comes as a relief as the two of you open fire into the darkness at the approaching shapes. The enemy, their advance disrupted by your actions, halts to assess the situation and you a pleased with the fact that you have bought yourselves some time and kept the foe at a distance.

Every time either of you can make out the vague silhouette of a target, you fire and the form vanishes into the darkness, dead or wounded. The battle in front of you continues for several minutes while you hear the sounds of combat all around you. The line is being sorely tested and you hope it will hold.

After a few minutes, the Germans advance with greater numbers, having pinpointed your defensive position. A wave of the enemy approaches and your ammunition supply is slowly dwindling.

If you hold your position, Go to 5.

If you fall back to a safer position, Go to 16.
