World War II F4U-1 Corsair Pulled from Lake Michigan

Salvage workers recovered a World War II fighter plane from Lake Michigan on Nov. 8, 2010, some 33 miles off Waukegan, Wisconsin. The F4U-1 Corsair crashed June 12, 1943, while landing on the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Wolverine. The salvaged wreck is rusted, its underbelly covered with zebra mussels, but otherwise in good condition, the Chicago Tribune reported.
