“Marusia”

It is the song from the famous Soviet after WWII-time movie “Ivan Vasil’evich meniaet professiiu”
 (“Ivan Vasil’evich changes his profession”). It is not about the WWII, it is a song of Ivan The Terrible’s
 ancient Russian soldiers.

When I served in the Russian Army one company in my unit used this song as its marching song.

It was during a green-coloured spring, under an old pine-tree,
Where Vaniusha [2] was bidding farewell to his beloved girl.
He clinked by his chain armour and said fondly:
“Don’t cry, Marusia-beauty!”
Marusia
Was silent and was shedding tears!
It was in the result of sadness
Why her heart was bleeding!
Kap-kap-kap [3], teardrops were falling from Marusia’s clear eyes 
On Vaniusha’s lance.
Kap-kap-kap, teardrops were falling from Marusia’s clear eyes,
They were bitter
And they were falling – kap-kap, -
Exactly on Vaniusha’s lance.

It is during a freezing winter, under the same pine-tree,
Where Vaniusha is meeting to his beloved girl.
He clinks by his chain armour again and say fondly:
“I has returned to you, my beauty!”
Marusia
Is so happy that she is shedding tears!
And here soul 
Is singing like a gusli [4]!
Kap-kap-kap, teardrops are falling from Marusia’s clear eyes 
On Vaniusha’s lance.
Kap-kap-kap, teardrops are falling from Marusia’s clear eyes,
They are honeyed
And they are falling – kap-kap, -
Exactly on Vaniusha’s lance.

Marusia

[1] Marusia is a woman’s Russian name.
[2] Vaniusha is the tenderer version of the name Ivan than Vania
[3] kap-kap-kap - in Russian the falling of a drop is called by the word “kap”, so “kap-kap-kap” 
means the falling of a few drops
[4] gusli is an ancient Russian musical instrument like an harp
