NATO Winning Afghanistan – One Child at a Time

By Doug Mastriano

"Our man in Kabul," Army Lt. Col. Doug Mastriano (see "Sgt. York Fought Here", July 2007 ACG), sends this report of recent activities of his NATO unit in Afghanistan. We wish Doug — and our NATO allies — a safe tour and a speedy return home when their deployment is over; Yesterday [January 24, 2008], we distributed clothes, toys, candy and school supplies to 120 poor children. Some are orphans, some live on the streets, and the rest are from families with nothing. Attached are a few photos. I was amazed at how orderly the kids were – sometimes when we try to do this there is a stampede. As always – it was a pleasure to meet these children and they had a good time interacting with my soldiers. With this, they see a side of the West that is never told to them in their society. 1. To Lt. Col. Doug Mastriano

Just came back from the inauguration of the Memorial at the Sgt. York Trail.

Great Job, well done, really a lot of work that went into the preservation of the memory of Sgt York.

I can really recommend the page of the Sgt. York project: http://www.sgtyorkdiscovery.com

    all the best for you.
